The electrifying first notes of "Externalnet" on the brand new album "GlobeSounds" by Japaenese composer and instrumentalist Kento Masuda are just a taste of things to come on this wildly imaginative and complex album that pushes the boundaries of avant garde sound. Masuda weaves brilliant cascading keyboard lines with intricate percussion lines, achieving a cinematographic effect that will remind listeners of the work of the famous film and television composer Danny Elfman. Highlights of the album includes the memorable composition "Halo," the quiet solo piano piece "Jane," and of course the dynamic and moving three-part composition "The Tsunami," which builds like a tidal wave only to come crashing back down to a serene end. Masuda composed and dedicated this piece for the victims and survivors of the terrible tsunami that struck western Asia in 2004.

"Hands" served as the breakthrough album for accomplished Japanese composer and instrumentalist Kento Masuda. Masuda shows his range both as a performer and composer on this multi-faceted recording that features both quiet solo piano pieces like the eponymous title track "Hands" and the labyrinthian sounds of "Time." Masuda pushes the avant garde sound in new directions with "Hands," and the album serves as the framework for his even more intricate and advanced follow-up album "GlobeSounds," which was released on JPMC Records in June 2006.

"MYOJYOW," maybe the most eclectic mix of Masuda's music, features wildly intricate passages like "Element Cul" that can be reminiscent of the work of popular film and television composer Danny Elfman. Masuda also verges out and explores jazz influences on "Welcome Home," a track that features drummer Shawn Pelton, guitarist Gundy Kellar, and bassist Eric Persing. This album diverges from Masuda's other work in the respect that it features vocals on several tracks by singers Satomi Nameki and Mika Natarls, including "Love at First Sight," "Lament," "Sophie Rose Fouren," and "So, melting snow." But as always, Masuda's keyboard playing remains the center of attention as he switches back and forth betwenn the piano, Rhodes organ, and synheziser.
